Life Group Dinner: City BBQ Style

Life Group (LG) dinner nights have become my favorite Sunday of the month! Mr. Boo and I hosted this month. Jimmy ordered a smoker a few days ago and it arrived just in time to make pork for the dinner! With that being said, we decided on a City BBQ theme (for those who aren't familiar, City BBQ is one of Jimmy's favorite BBQ places in Ohio). And, yes, I always have to have a theme when I have people over :) That's just how I roll.

Here's the cook (me) with her ref apron on...it even has a penalty flag (which I used throughout the night). You can see my station behind me:

I started by making the dessert for the evening. It's my mom's famous "Dirt Dessert." It includes pudding, whipped cream and oreos:
Freakin' delish! If you would like the recipe, let me know and I'll post it.

I then started making the gluten free (GF) green bean casserole. I used a few recipes I found online to make my own version. Again, if you are interested in the recipe, let me know!
Steamy! P.S. This recipe uses Funyuns instead of french fried onions. Also, I love using fresh green beans instead of canned...makes it so much better!

After putting this in the oven, I began making the mac-n-cheese. I've NEVER made mac-n-cheese in my life...not even the box kind! It's so incredibly easy. I used GF pasta and sharp cheddar cheese. You can find the recipe here. I don't eat mac-n-cheese but the crowd said they loved it.
I learned I'd have to make twice as much next time...this ran out fast!

After putting this in the oven, I popped open the can of baked beans (the only thing that wasn't homemade...but still delish).

Next is Mr. Boo's specialty of the night...THE MEAT! Here's the yummy pork he made:
We used Famous Dave's "Rich and Sassy" BBQ sauce. My fav! Another P.S. the meat pictured is just half of what was made!

Finally, you can't have a BBQ theme without:
SWEET TEA!!! I'm a southern girl...I know how to make me some sweet tea, y'all!

Let me know if you need any of the recipes!
