Pumping, Irish Festival, Godparents, and J is Eating Food (SIKE!) BUT...

...He does HAVE A TOOTH! Is it possible for a baby to be teething 1 1/2 months prior to actually getting the tooth?! It sure did seem like he was teething that entire time.

He had to be asleep in order for me to open his mouth for the picture!

BREAKING NEWS: J ate food last week on Monday! I bought one of those pouches that had a mix of two fruits and a veggie. We had just finished our run and sat down to watch Mr. Boo play volleyball. I decided to give the pouch a try...the boy ate about 1/3 of the pouch!! I was shocked. I thought for sure this was the turning point in his eating adventure. Not so much. That stubborn turd hasn't eaten since then!

**********

I'm  in a pumping slump. I was SO CLOSE to calling it quits last week. If it wasn't the life source of my precious baby, I would quit in an instant. I probably mentioned that I was getting up around 145-2 a.m. to pump since J was sleeping through the night. I did this EVERY NIGHT for a few weeks until I just couldn't stand the way I felt every day...I was so tired and sluggish in the morning.

After seeking advice from other moms, I decided on a new method. I started pumping after his last feeding/just before I went to bed then again just before leaving the house for work/after his morning feeding. This is all in addition to the three times I pump at work during the day (I schedule pumping sessions like I schedule my patients!).  I've been doing this for about a week and just can't seem to get the same amount of milk. I've been feeling a little better since my sleep isn't broken but I just don't think it's worth getting less milk. Therefore, starting tonight, I'm going back to my 2 a.m. wake up call :( Until J starts eating food, I need to pump as much as I can.

I'm loving all this family stuff we are doing this summer! This past weekend, we ate some delicious pizza at Dewey's then headed to the Dublin Irish Festival. The festival seemed lame, at first, until we found the Celtic game arena. We sat there for 2 hours watching these chicks throw these weighted bags over a goal post with pitchforks! LOL. James had a grand ole time, too.

 Dewey's
Mr. Boo!

Ninja in training!

Finally, Jimmy and I have been praying and talking about the future with J and any other kids we may create. We knew we needed to write a will which meant we would have to pick godparents. We didn't want it to be any of our parents because we didn't want them to be senior citizens responsible for young children (sorry parents! LOL.). So, naturally, we went through our siblings next. Since we live in Ohio and this is where our kids will grow up (yes, things can change), we decided to first ask Chris and Amy (Mr. Boo's brother and our sister-in-law). Honestly, we were afraid they would say "no," at first, because they already have two kids and one on the way (very soon...yay!) but we knew they would be excellent at the job so we were hoping they would say "yes!" We gave them 2-3 weeks to think about it and they said YES!!!! We were so relieved because, if something ever does happen, we want J and other kids to have an easy transition.

Sitting, Music, Friends, and Cuddles

My boy is 99% there with his sitting. I'm still cautious with him sitting on harder surfaces because he occasionally gets lazy/tired and falls over. I'm so insanely proud of him! Today, for the first time, we noticed him on all fours!!! We've been waiting for this one! I tried to get  it on camera buuuut...NO.

**********

J is getting major exposure to music. We've decided he'll probably play the piano or be a drummer...or both! He'll have the perfect teachers! Last weekend, he went to his first James Davis gig. Mr. Boo played with his dad and their friend (also named Jim!) at a bar/restaurant. James had a great time and even got some drumming lessons.

He mostly likes to eat the sticks but that's a good start!

We also went to the Columbus Jazz and Rib Fest that weekend and James got to hear some great music and watch us eat some great food! The boy doesn't know what he's missing.

(My favorite picture this week)

**********

We had some good friend time this week! Our friends, The Hatti, invited us over for dinner. We grilled burgers and veggies, drank margaritas (my fav!), and topped it all off with cake! J got to play with his friend Charlotte  (10 days younger than James) and take notes on her yoga skills.

Later that week, we met our life group at Schiller Park in German Village for bible study. It was an amazing evening outside. We enjoyed a yummy Mexican style salad for dinner and sipped on Blue Moon.

Finally, this weekend was The 5th Annual Davis Hillbilly Party! It's funny to see how the party has evolved over the years. It used to be a bunch of drinking 20-somethings partying the night away and now it's this:

LOL. Not that I'm complaining! It just cracks me up! Different and still fun. You can't go wrong with food, drinks, and friends!

Who says your life ends when you have kids?

**********

My boy is becoming a cuddler. Needless to say, I'm LOVIN' it!!! After I feed him or when I pick him up and carry him, he just gives me these sweet little hugs that put the biggest smile on my face. :) :) :)

Independence Day Weekend, Teething, Date Time and James Still Won't Eat (LOL)...

I definitely should have posted last week because I have a lot to say about the last two weeks!

**********

Independence Day weekend was 99% awesome! I had the most wonderful 4 day weekend and spent all kinds of time with my boy (the other 1% was James being a little nuts on Monday because of teething...he cried most of the day and didn't sleep well the night before). We kicked off our weekend with mommy/baby happy hour at BJ's Brewhouse with Jackie and Kirstin and had Whit's that evening with The Hatti! Good thing we ran the next day!

July 4th was awesome! Mr. Boo had a volleyball tournament so we went to Marysville to hang with his family. We ate yummy parfaits on the Davis patio...such a beautiful morning...then went to the popular Union County Fairgrounds to see Grandpa Davis play some music for the festival. James loved hanging out with Grandma Joan...he even fell asleep in her arms :) After the gig, we hung out with Aunt Amy and the cousins for a few. The only thing that would have made the day better is having Jimmy with us!

The fun continued on Saturday. After our long run with Peyton and Jackie, we all met some other friends at Bunny Park in Dublin. They have some cool fountains and waterfalls. J wasn't a fan at first but eventually warmed up to it. Later that evening (the weather being even more perfect than the day before), we went to Local Cantina at Creekside with Grandpa and Grandma Joan. They have the best margaritas and tacos! (SIDE NOTE: If you EVER want to go out for a margarita, I'm the girl to invite...just sayin')

Despite a rough end to our long weekend with James' teething, the day was made better by Grandma Deb coming over to hang out with us while Mr. Boo was at work. She even brought us...well, me...some Cane's!

**********

James is so stubborn when it comes to opening his mouth! I want to get a good look and feel for teeth but he just won't let me!! The little stinker. I thought I saw a white spot and so did his daddy and sitter. He has been gnawing on things all week and I can tell the little booger is in pain at times. He won't take the typical teething toys so I have given him some baby Tylenol if I think he's really in pain. Poor baby.

**********

Last night, we were given the opportunity to go on a baby-free date. We went to Marysville and dropped J off at Jim and Joan's and went to uptown (or is it downtown) Marysville and had some Mexican food and a margarita. (For those in M-ville, that Mexican place, Fiesta something, is not that great. If you haven't been there, I suggest just going somewhere else.) We then crossed the street to get some custard from Whit's! If you guys haven't noticed, margaritas and Whit's are obviously two of my favorite things :)

When we went to pick J up, we saw the cutest thing:

Grandma feeding him a bottle while Grandpa was playing the guitar and singing him a song.

**********
James still won't eat and I'm still not that concerned about it. It's more annoying than anything! LOL. I bought a couple of new gadgets at Target to try to coax him into eating. One is basically an oversizes pacifier that you fill with pureed food;

the other, a mesh feeder in which you can put frozen treats, amongst other things. We tried frozen blueberries during one of our runs and that was a mess! Basically, I'm just trying to feed him something everyday without force. Eventually, when he's ready, he'll eat real food.

Oh yeah...he's starting to drink some water!

**********

I'll leave y'all with some smile pictures since it's SO HARD to get that boy's smile on camera!

At Jane's.

So cute!

Not a massive smile but he LOVES to splish splash in the bath tub!

Saucer fun.

Baby Shower #2- Marysville Style

If you're a regular follower, you know that I had my first shower in West Virginia in late September. I wrote about it HERE. Yesterday, I had my second shower which included friends from church, work, and/or Hip Hop Fitness. I was initially concerned because the shower was held in Marysville and my friends live in various places around Columbus. I've made that drive so many times that it's nothing to me...but for those who don't make it out that way, it may seem like an eternity! I am so blessed that a good group of women were able to show up!

The girls minus Sarah G. Two of my planners are on each side of me (Lindsay and Jenny).

The same group but including Joan (yellow shirt, my mother-in-law and other planner).

My obsession with themes was greatly satisfied yesterday :) I love the fall and the book "The Giving Tree." My shower planners played off of those themes (My friends, Jenny and Lindsay, along with one of my mothers-in-law, Joan, planned the party). They did an amazing job! Here are some pics of the décor:

Cute plates/napkins!

That's an actual tree that was given to me...now I just need to plant it!

The flowers were given away as gifts to game winners.

It was a relaxed environment that included some appropriate games (guess the baby food, guess the size of Lisa's belly, and name songs with "baby" in it). I was glad I didn't have to guess melted candy bars in diapers!
The food was amazing as well! We had chili, veggies, and a cheese tray along with apple cider to imbibe (the guests had the option of adding carmel vodka...I'm sad I missed out on that one!). There were also wonderful fall desserts including this apple granola bake, apple pie, and pumpkin pie. YUMMY!!!
The only time I felt awkward was during gift opening, of course! I felt my face turn SO RED! And my pits were sweating like crazy! I appreciated every gift that I received and can't wait to use them with Baby Boo!

Thanks so much to the planners and the party attenders for everything!! I felt so loved!

I Woke Up Ready To Go!

I think my excitement about the Harry Potter marathon on abcFamily this weekend got me motivated enough to get up and go today! I woke up shortly after Mr. Boo left for volleyball, threw on some running clothes, and went to Hoff Park.

My running shirt was cracking me up today because, really, it's too small. It kept riding up my pregnant belly :) I got tired of pulling it down so I just let it all hang out!

I jogged a 5k distance (first time I've measured my distance all summer!) and did it around 31 minutes. I was impressed considering I was carrying my running partner ;)

When I got home, I wanted to take the girls for a walk. My precious pups and I explored our neighborhood for 54 minutes...good job girls! Here they are post walk:

I did a little grocery shopping between my run and going home so I could actually cook for my hubby today. What's for lunch? Breakfast food, of course!
Sausage Hashbrown Casserole...easiest, most delicious meal ever!

Now I get to spend the rest of the day watching college football and Harry Potter...and looking forward to the yummy chili I'm cooking in the crockpot! Happy Weekend Everyone!

Our Nashville Trip

Our trips to Nashville always seem like such a blur. It's awesome that we get to go but I always feel like we're in such a hurry to see people. We left Columbus mid afternoon on Friday to head to our favorite city! Two traffic jams and some crazy rain later, we arrived at our friends' house (Thanks Casey and Shana for letting us stay with you!!!). We were pooped from work and travel and decided not to go out that night. We ordered pizza from one of Jimmy's favorite places, Matteo's, and hung out with Casey and Shana.
The next morning, Mr. Boo made plans to play sand volleyball with some friends....but not before I was able to get a chicken biscuit from Jack in the Box (I used to be obsessed with them when I lived in Nashville). While he was playing volleyball, I read my labor book and enjoyed the view at Fellowship Bible Church:

This is also the same pond in which Mr. Boo proposed :)

After volleyball, we met some old church friends at Blue Coast Burrito! I've been wanting one of these burritos for an entire year. I can only eat so much Chipotle before I need the taste of Blue Coast! This was such an amazing time to catch up and reminisce about good times we had together.

A couple short hours later, Boo and I headed to Belmont to begin our 5 year PT school reunion.

The Belmont campus has changed SO MUCH! It was amazing. Our professor, Dr. Halle, took us on a tour of the new PT building as well as the cadaver lab. It brought back so many memories! Our spouses were probably bored but we didn't care...it was awesome for us. We then headed to Bound'ry for cocktail hour (which, obviously, I couldn't partake in). Mr. Boo and I had to leave around 715 to meet Casey and Shana but it was nice to catch up with everyone! I love those people!

From Bound'ry, we headed back to the Nolensville, TN area to meet the Bresnahans at Burger Republic. This place was awesome! Great shakes, great burgers, and, apparently, great beer! While eating, the four of us reminisced about how we all met. We realized that the four of us were at some of the same events before we actually knew each other/started dating!

As we were headed home today, I was both sad and excited. I love Nashville...it will always have a special place in my heart. Who knows...maybe Boo and I will retire there :) The good news is we are finally home with our pups!

My Bird Story and My Day

When I was playing outside with the pups yesterday, I noticed a bird on the ground. I went up to it and it looked like it was in the process of dying :( At the time, I didn't think to do anything about it so I just let it be. A few hours later, I went out to mow the backyard and noticed the bird was still moving a little. It broke my heart. I asked Mr. Boo to help me figure out what to do.

We called the Wildlife Hospital in Columbus but they were already closed for the day. We then did some internet research and found something to try until we could take it to the hospital the next day. I picked up the little guy and we put him in a shoebox lined with paper towels. The website said to make sure the bird was upright. The poor thing kept plopping to its side so we had to put paper towels on each side to help keep it upright. We checked on him a couple hours later and he was still plopping over. I felt so sad for the birdie. He looked pitiful. We tried to keep him alive through the night but he didn't make it :( I couldn't help but cry.

**********

My day has been so awesome that I have to share it with everyone. Mr. Boo and I started a new Saturday tradition of volleyball and running in the morning. He goes to Hoff Park in Westerville every Saturday morning to play sand volleyball. I decided that I would start going with him so that I could get in a good Saturday run (P.S. I ran 4.25 miles and felt great!). After finishing my run, I chill out and watch him play :) I also added a donut run into that tradition (Schneider's Bakery in Westerville is da bomb!):

After returning home, my mother-in-law came to visit for an hour or so. The girls were so excited to see grandma!!! Mr. Boo and I then went on our first Zoombezi Bay trip of the summer:

Unfortunately, I can't do any rides this year because of the pregnancy :( I guess it will be a lot of reading and lazy river for me! As we were getting our tan on, Mr. Boo said "I really want to eat a lot of fatty food right now!" I didn't feel led to disagree :) We decided to go to Chili's cuz we love their chips-n-salsa.

All of this by 6:15. Have a good night friends!

Baking and A Tough Decision

Since I've lived in Ohio, we always go to Deb's (Mr. Boo's mom) house for a Mother's Day dinner. She usually doesn't let us bring anything, but I was able to convince her to let me take care of dessert!

I decided to make my creation, the Dirt Dessert Pie (which I made for our anniversary):

I also wanted to try out this recipe for Peanut Butter Reese's Pieces Shortbread Bars:
The only problem is that I forgot they were supposed to be "bars" and cut them into squares :(

***************
So, I think I mentioned in a post sometime recently that the Colts are playing the Broncos this season (at Lucas Oil Stadium!!!). If that means nothing to you, trust me when I say it's a BIG DEAL! It means Peyton is returning to Indy (yes, we are on a first name basis) and I've never seen him play at that stadium...I don't even care if it is for another team!

This morning, Mr. Boo forced me to take a couple of days to make a decision. He said, if I want, we can make this game happen...buy decent tickets, get a hotel room for the night, etc. BUT it would be my birthday present, his birthday present, AND our Christmas present! I'm pretty sure I know my decision but I promised him I would think about it first ;)
Colts vs. Dolphins, November 2012

One more thing, I just have to mention that he cleaned the entire house when I was at a Mother's Day banquet with his mom :) Thanks, Boo!!! I love you!

Derby Dinner

Warning: You are about to see a bunch of pictures of food. I like food. I like to make food for my friends/family (and take pictures of it). Very well then.

Our friends, The Hughes and The Lobbs, joined us for a derby themed dinner tonight. By the way, we didn't even watch the race! It's all about eating and fellowship :) HERE'S the link to my pinterest board where I found my menu ideas. There were a few things on my original menu that I intended to make but, with the smaller crowd, I decided to down-size the menu.

Pretty plates and bowls :)

Sweet tea...a must-have

Buttermilk Biscuits

Salad. YUM.

Watermelon. There is something about it that screams "Summer!"

Mac-n-cheese

Dessert. Strawberry cupcakes.

We ate dinner on the patio. It was SO NICE outside. That is my Mamaw's old table (notice the yellow legs!).

Not pictured, but also on the menu, was baked beans and the pork that Mr. Boo smoked in the smoker pictured above. Luckily for us, we have left-overs :)

Random note: My friend, Jenny, brought me this tea:

Thanks, Jenny! Can't wait to try it!!!
