Independence Day Weekend, Teething, Date Time and James Still Won't Eat (LOL)...

I definitely should have posted last week because I have a lot to say about the last two weeks!

**********

Independence Day weekend was 99% awesome! I had the most wonderful 4 day weekend and spent all kinds of time with my boy (the other 1% was James being a little nuts on Monday because of teething...he cried most of the day and didn't sleep well the night before). We kicked off our weekend with mommy/baby happy hour at BJ's Brewhouse with Jackie and Kirstin and had Whit's that evening with The Hatti! Good thing we ran the next day!

July 4th was awesome! Mr. Boo had a volleyball tournament so we went to Marysville to hang with his family. We ate yummy parfaits on the Davis patio...such a beautiful morning...then went to the popular Union County Fairgrounds to see Grandpa Davis play some music for the festival. James loved hanging out with Grandma Joan...he even fell asleep in her arms :) After the gig, we hung out with Aunt Amy and the cousins for a few. The only thing that would have made the day better is having Jimmy with us!

The fun continued on Saturday. After our long run with Peyton and Jackie, we all met some other friends at Bunny Park in Dublin. They have some cool fountains and waterfalls. J wasn't a fan at first but eventually warmed up to it. Later that evening (the weather being even more perfect than the day before), we went to Local Cantina at Creekside with Grandpa and Grandma Joan. They have the best margaritas and tacos! (SIDE NOTE: If you EVER want to go out for a margarita, I'm the girl to invite...just sayin')

Despite a rough end to our long weekend with James' teething, the day was made better by Grandma Deb coming over to hang out with us while Mr. Boo was at work. She even brought us...well, me...some Cane's!

**********

James is so stubborn when it comes to opening his mouth! I want to get a good look and feel for teeth but he just won't let me!! The little stinker. I thought I saw a white spot and so did his daddy and sitter. He has been gnawing on things all week and I can tell the little booger is in pain at times. He won't take the typical teething toys so I have given him some baby Tylenol if I think he's really in pain. Poor baby.

**********

Last night, we were given the opportunity to go on a baby-free date. We went to Marysville and dropped J off at Jim and Joan's and went to uptown (or is it downtown) Marysville and had some Mexican food and a margarita. (For those in M-ville, that Mexican place, Fiesta something, is not that great. If you haven't been there, I suggest just going somewhere else.) We then crossed the street to get some custard from Whit's! If you guys haven't noticed, margaritas and Whit's are obviously two of my favorite things :)

When we went to pick J up, we saw the cutest thing:

Grandma feeding him a bottle while Grandpa was playing the guitar and singing him a song.

**********
James still won't eat and I'm still not that concerned about it. It's more annoying than anything! LOL. I bought a couple of new gadgets at Target to try to coax him into eating. One is basically an oversizes pacifier that you fill with pureed food;

the other, a mesh feeder in which you can put frozen treats, amongst other things. We tried frozen blueberries during one of our runs and that was a mess! Basically, I'm just trying to feed him something everyday without force. Eventually, when he's ready, he'll eat real food.

Oh yeah...he's starting to drink some water!

**********

I'll leave y'all with some smile pictures since it's SO HARD to get that boy's smile on camera!

At Jane's.

So cute!

Not a massive smile but he LOVES to splish splash in the bath tub!

Saucer fun.

Fatigue + Randoms

I'm tired...not sleepy but my body is tired! Today will be my first rest day of the week and it feels well deserved. Between Hip Hop on Monday, tennis on Tuesday, tempo run on Wednesday and 4 miles yesterday, I wanna get in a hot tub! I think it was the tennis that got me.

Random #1: I made meatballs for the FIRST TIME EVER using THIS recipe. I cut the recipe in half since it was just Mr. Boo and me.

Random #2: Our anniversary is next week! 3 years!!!

Random #3: Mr. Boo and I have an obsession with Jamaica...particularly the island cocktails. For our anniversary, we are going downtown to have drinks at this Caribbean style restaurant/bar. Yeah, mon!!

Finally, Random #4: I'm driving to WV after work next Friday (where my parents live) because my other sister, Ashley, is visiting with her two little ones!!! I get to meet my youngest niece who was born last year :)

Karaoke and Dancing

I must start by saying, late nights aren't what they used to be! I don't know how I survived grad school! We went out every weekend and I don't remember it making me feel this tired!

Last night, we went out with some friends to a bar in Grandview (Mickey's?) for some karaoke. I never participate in the singing part...I just like to laugh at the others singing :) We had a grand ole time despite some of the weirdos. I promised Amy I would edit this photo but, after looking at it more, I think it's awesome the way it is:
Pay special attention to the look Andrew is giving his wife, Mandie. Amy's like "NO FLASH!" Mandie's sayin' "HOLLA!" Ross is just playin' it cool...and then there's Andrew :)

After Dan sang his song (the song that he chose was a very random pick but it ended up being a hit with the cougars and creepers at the bar), we got bored and went downtown. We ended up at Park Street Cantina. That place was a lot of fun...I would probably enjoy it more in the summer when I don't have to hold my coat and sweat like an Arkansas Razorback the whole time. Besides dancing, we got to enjoy 2 for1 tequila shots and great people watching courtesy of the Arnold Expo (can we say Jersey Shore?!).
Doesn't Mr. Boo look cute with his tie on? :)

$urprise!

Before I get to the actual topic, I have to show off my well deserved happy hour margarita from El Vaquero...their margaritas are muy bueno!

So, I was going through the wallet I was using prior to my current wallet and found something I forgot I had...Christmas money!!! I was so excited! I was just saying a couple of days ago that I need a new pair of running tights for this cold weather...especially since I'm running this 10K on Sunday. BRRR! I went to Target and they had a lot of their workout gear on clearance (FYI!). Here's what I ended up with:

These "you-can't-miss-me-coming" shirts (both clearance items)

A new sports bra (also a clearance item..and, yes, XS...NEWS FLASH: I have little boobs) :)

These capri running tights and full length tights (with a cute zipper at the bottom)

I never get to buy running clothes so I'm REALLY excited to try them out! I'll premier the full length tights at my race on Sunday!

It's All About Food...

I'm trying to start a new tradition of making Mr. Boo Saturday morning breakfast. It's also my way of getting him out of bed by 10am...I'm afraid he'd sleep til noon if I didn't get him up! Yesterday, I made Bacon Pancakes:
These are so easy to make:
-make your choice of pancake mix (I used GF) and put aside
-cook bacon (depending on the amount of "southern" in you, you can save some bacon grease to cook the pancakes in for some extra bacon flavor)
-when you pour the pancake mix on the griddle or pan, put a piece of bacon on top.
-cook, flip pancake, cook

I also made these potato bites:
These were delish! You can find the recipe here. I made some with cheese and some without cheese. Mr. Boo was a fan which made me happy :)

That afternoon, I was inspired to bake some cookies. They were a hit! They are called Peanut Butter Pudding Cookies...recipe found here.
The best part? They have milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and Reese's Pieces! MMM!!! I also used GF all purpose flour and added xanthun gum. SIDE NOTE: If anyone wants to send me a Razorbacks serving tray so I can stop using the Buckeye tray, I would welcome that gift :) hehehe.

We ended the day with a yummy dinner at Barley's Smokehouse with our friends, the Hatti (pleural for Hatt).
I
I had some wangs...yes, wAngs...with jerk sauce and this drink:
I love me some cider.

Mr. Boo + He-Man = Date?

So...we dipped into the date jar again and pulled out a card that said "Mute TV and make your own dialogue." At first, we weren't sure if we would follow through with this one. BUT, just as we were about to decide to do a different date, Jimmy looked on our coffee table and saw the He-Man DVD. At that point, we knew we had to make this date happen!

And, yes, we imbibed some moonshine again. My goal was to sip it from my shot glass but that was too intense...had to add it to some OJ.

Our date turned into the Mr. Boo showcase (which was quite entertaining for me). It definitely kept me laughing :)

Update:
I'm still dealing with this piriformis thing. I couldn't even tell you if my knee is still bothering me because the booty be hurtin' me. I think I'm finally going to do some form of a workout tomorrow. I've taken enough days off to feel lazy.

My Love/Hate Relationship With Mornings

Hate: The act of getting out of bed. I'm the annoying person that has to hit snooze 20 million times before I actually get up. Mr. Boo does an amazing job of not getting mad at me and my alarm clock. He also does a pretty good job of not talking to me in the morning. I dislike morning conversations. I typically don't remember them. The most I will ever say to Jimmy is "I gotta go pee." (in my whiny voice, of course). If you talk to me in the a.m., I'm probably mean.

Love: How I feel after being awake 20 minutes or so. After I pee, brush my teeth, and get ready for work, I get to look forward to a cup of coffee. This is one reason I love my new job. For my old job, I had to drink coffee on the way to work. With my current job, I start off at home before going to see my patients. Therefore, I get some chill time in the morning :) This is what I enjoyed this morning:

(yes, I wrote down the date I opened it...I'm weird about expiration dates)

I start my coffee, read my daily devotional, make my cup of coffee, and prepare my work for the day. Totally, awesomely amazing.

Apple Pie Moonshine Cocktail

What you need:
-Apple Pie Moonshine
-Ginger Ale
-Razorback Shot Glass
-Two Mini Mason Jars (not pictured above)

Pour 4 oz. ginger ale into each mini mason jar. You may recognize these from last year's hillbilly party.

Add at least a shot of moonshine (this particular kind is 70 proof). Woo Pig Sooie!

Mix and enjoy!

Staying Out of the Gutter...

That was our goal today BUT that didn't happen! Jimmy and I had our first "date jar" date today.

We went to HP Lanes on Innis Rd. in Columbus. They had a great open bowling special ($10+$2.75 shoe rental for 2 hours of bowling!). We played 6 games with time left over. SO MUCH FUN! My only goal was to score over 100. I actually beat Jimmy the first game but he pretty much kicked my butt the other games.
Look at those skills!

The 3rd game, I finally scored over 100...108 to be exact! Here's the proof:

Sorry about the poor picture quality but I wanted proof! I'm completely awful at bowling but it's so much fun. I'm way better at Wii Bowling :)

I almost scored 100 on the 5th game. I thought all hope was lost when I went into the 10th frame with the score of 79. I made two strikes in a row and all I had to do was hit ONE pin...I repeat ONE pin. I guttered that stinkin' ball like I've never guttered it before! I just screamed and fell to the floor. I'm glad the place was mostly empty!
Love my boo.

After bowling, we decided to check out a Mexican restaurant down the street from our house...a little hole-in-the-wall place called El Rayo. It was pretty good. The salsa was different than most I've had...but in a good way.

Finally, we decided to go to the liquor section of Giant Eagle to see if they had Appleton Rum (the rum they used at Sandals in Jamaica). They indeed had it! BUT we saw something even better that tickled our fancy:
MOONSHINE!!!!

Apple Pie Moonshine to be exact. We've been watching the show "Moonshiners" lately so it seemed appropriate.
I'm excited that we had a successful date and I can't wait for the next!

My New Favorite Hot Drink

The Vanilla Spice Latte by Starbucks

My go-to drink the last few years has been the vanilla latte. I always get excited in the fall time and around holidays because the seasonal drinks come out so that I can get a break from the vanilla latte. Now that we are into the new year, I was happy to see this drink advertised. I tried it and it was awesome! I'm writing this short blog to tell you to try it!

Jamaica Day 1: I’m so excited! I’m so…

…scared (think: Saved By The Bell)! Why am I excited? Because we made it to Jamaica, mon. Why am I scared? Because I almost fell asleep on the shuttle from one of the resorts to the resort where we currently reside. (More questions to come)…Why did I almost fall asleep? One too many Rum Punches!

Jimmy and I were overly excited when we arrived to the resort. The guy who checked us in asked if we would like a drink. “NO” was the wrong answer…so we ordered rum punch (a must have Jamaican drink).

While waiting on our room to be ready, we ordered some Jerk Chicken (another Jamaican classic).  The 1st rum punch was so amazing that I ordered another. We then changed into our bathing suits and headed to another resort to check it out. Jimmy and I decided it was appropriate to order a “Bob Marley.” That ended up being a shot! YIKES (we took it anyway, of course.)! The bartender, who was very convincing, decided it was a good idea to force us into getting another bev. I wasn’t in the mood to argue with him so I ordered something. All of this was just in time for a game of pool against my boo.

I really don’t remember the game…but I know we had fun! We then headed back to our resort in time for dinner.
After my pork chop and mashed potatoes dinner, we thought we were going to a disco party at another resort but they must have had that the night before…so we just explored and went for a late night snack at Criketer’s Bar where they had some karaoke action. After returning to our room, we had no problem falling asleep that night.
